Skip this instruction guide! In-game tutorials are available in Adventure Mode that will teach you how to play.
Catch tiles with your paddle as they descend the ramp before they fall over the edge. Your paddle can hold up to 5 tiles at a time.
Release tiles from your paddle on to the playing field to form vertical, horizontal, or diagonal lines of 3 or more tiles of the same color. The lines will disappear from the playing field, scoring points and freeing up space for more tiles.
Every tile that falls over the edge is a strike. You, or your team in co-op mode, begin with three available strikes. When all your available strikes are used, the game is over.
When playing with a partner, you share the same (but wider) playing field, score and available strikes. Each player catches and releases tiles on separate halves of the ramp and playing field. Each player has the option to toss tiles from their paddle to their teammate's side of the ramp.
There are 100 waves in one-player (solo) and two-player (co-op) adventure mode. Each wave has its own objective that you must meet before exhausting your available strikes. A proportionate time bonus is awarded depending on how quickly you complete the wave's objective.
The last player standing in one-player (free-for-all) battle mode, or the last team standing in two-player (pairs) battle mode is the winner. When a player or team exhausts their available strikes, they are eliminated from the match. For every 5,000 points in free-for-all battles, or 10,000 points in pairs battles, an item is released that can be used on opponents or one self. For a description of all items available in battle mode, see Items.
You can change the method of input (keyboard or mouse) via the Settings panel.
A or Left Arrow Key: move paddle left

2 (co-op only): use the item stored in your inventory on your teammate

Every vertical "Klax" is worth 500 points.
Every horizontal "Klax" is worth 1,500 points.
Every diagonal "Klax" is worth 2,000 points.
When two or more "Klaxes" are formed simultaneously or in rapid succession, a "chain" is said to have been formed. Every "Klax" in the chain increases the chain multiplier by 1. In the case of simultaneous "Klaxes", the higher multipliers affect the higher scoring "Klaxes".
For example, if you a release a tile that forms a horizontal "Klax" four tiles wide, that is equal to a chain of two horizontal "Klaxes" for 1,500 × 1 + 1,500 × 2 = 4,500 points.
If you release a tile that extends the chain (in the time the ramp is momentarily frozen and "Klaxes" are disappearing), and the released tile completes a vertical and diagonal "Klax" simultaneously, you score an additional 500 × 3 + 2,000 × 4 = 9,500 points. Note how the higher chain multiplier was applied to the diagonal score.
The total value of the chain of four "Klaxes" in this example is 4,500 + 9,500 = 14,000 points.
Create large chains of "Klaxes" to rapidly increase your score. This will allow you to gain more items in battle mode and complete point waves in adventure mode more quickly.
